MTV Networks rebrands MHD as Palladia

Yeah, I don't get it either.

As of today, MTV Networks' multi-genre high-definition music channel is now known as Palladia.  The channel formerly known since its inception as MHD is one of the few channels in our area carried across all five major TV service providers.  Palladia is expected to carry the same mix of content from MTV, VH1 and CMT that it has before... just with a new, confusing name.

At least we don't have MHD

At least we don't have MHD permanently on the screen during programming. Glad to see that their butterfly only makes an appearance right after commercials and then gives way to the translucent text in the corner.

Meh...didn't watch is when

Meh...didn't watch is when it was called MHD...not gonna watch it now that it has a funky new name...gave up on MTV when it switched from the music format to a bunch of "reality" shows about rich teens and 20-somethings whining about how hard their lives are while living rent-free in MTV provided mansions...

Funny you say that,

Funny you say that, wihogfan. I think MHD/Palladia is more of what MTV used to be than what it is now... ACTUAL music!

Might have to check it out

Might have to check it out then...tried to tune into it the week we got it and couldn't get past the TWC "this channel not available at this time" error and then I forgot about the channel even being there.

NOTE: I still get that error on virtually all the TWC HD channels though...and last night I was having the problem of HD an channel freezing during the middle of the show I was watching and the only way to fix it was to tune to a different channel and then tune back...some times took/takes several attempts to get past the error.

I've had a lot of problems

I've had a lot of problems with Food Network HD in particular. Lots of freezing. Lots of "not available" errors. Most, if not all, of my DVR recordings are cut-off.

If you can see Palladia, check it out. It's nice having a channel again that's strictly music. Lots of variety there.

Oh MTV, you're just so cool!

Oh MTV, you're just so cool! While I also cannot stand the orginal MTV channel, I've found myself watching MHD more than once. I just hope this channel remains the same and doesn't fall victim to teenage reality shows like every other MTV channel has.

Boy you are dead on about

Boy you are dead on about the Food Network HD channel on TWC. It's not a channel I watch much, but the wife wanted to watch Iron Chef last night and it took about 4 tries to get past the "not available" error and then we experienced freezing about every 5 minutes during the hour long show. Terrible. I've also noticed more freezing than usual on all my DVR'd shows- even shows recorded in SD.

I'm taking my HD DVR back to

I'm taking my HD DVR back to Time Warner today. I'd be willing to overlook the occasional problem like that if my bill hadn't have gone up $20 a month last month. Unless whoever I talk to is phenomenal at customer retention, I'm pretty comfortable going antenna-only for the time-being, now that I have my Media Center optimized.

I've given up on AT&T. Someone in my complex (who DOES have a patio) got a DISH Network dish put up this week, so I suppose if I really tried, I could make a case for me getting it too. Hopefully. I have many questions about DISH before doing that though.

I didn't get Dish this week

I didn't get Dish this week but I had an installer survey my property this week and try and hard sell me. Basically I have an extremely small space in between a couple of trees where I can mount a satellite on a pole and pick up the 2 main satellites. To get HD programming, the installer wanted to install 2 dishes- one pointed towards the 2 southern main satellites and 1 pointed towards the eastern HD satellite (there is a HD satellite south too, but one of my trees prevents me from getting a signal to that satellite).
I mentioned the "Eastern Arc" to him and he said that they only install those dishes when they can't hit any of the southern satellites. I sent him on his way and his story about the eastern arc dish changed a bit (suddenly he could do an eastern arc satellite dish if that's what I wanted).
I have a friend who is coming to visit next week and he can supposedly get all the eastern arc satellite equipment for me at cost and help me set it up myself.
Advantages of buying my own equipment are that I don't have to pay a rental fee or sign any long term contract. Disadvantages are that for a DVR, it'll likely cost me $400 for all the equipment unless my friend can come up with a used or refurbished DVR for a bit cheaper. I've got a few days to make up my mind.

Looks like I'll be

Looks like I'll be investigating TurboHD now. AT&T can't do anything for me, short of me getting my building rewired. DirecTV wouldn't work because I can't commit to a 24-month contract.

I took my HD DVR back to Time Warner just now and they didn't seem the least bit interested at making a counteroffer when I asked to cancel my cable service. All they wanted to know is who I was thinking of switching to.

Soon as I find out the feasibility of DISH Net, I'll see whether I'm just an OTA guy or not.

What is the point of

What is the point of Palladia showing concerts if a commercial pops up every third song or so..? Name changed but the glaring problem of interuption still exist.

I wish dish would get back the RAVE channel since it had no commercials ruining the all HD shows.

you;ve got to see fleetwood

you;ve got to see fleetwood mac on palladia awesome!!!!!!
