Buried in the print edition of today's Post-Crescent, the paper reports that Time Warner will be adding three more HD channels this Thursday.  The new channels include TLC HD on channel 742, Animal Planet on 743 and the combined Golf/Versus HD channel on 714.

Thanks to Kris for the tip.

Great, 3 more HD

Great, 3 more HD channels...it's a shame that they're 3 channels I never watch...Well, I occasionally watch a few things on TLC, but not enough to get excited about it...

It is definitely exciting

It is definitely exciting that they are adding more HD channels. Now if they would just start adding ones like FX, Spike, USA would be much better. From articles I read Time Warner has rights to a lot of HD channels, why not just throw a bunch out there instead of 2/3 at a time? I believe they have the switched video working well here already.

What about WLUK FOX 11, NFL

What about WLUK FOX 11, NFL Network, and Big 10 in HD? They are 3 that I'd like to see go live.

Time Warner doesn't have the

Time Warner doesn't have the rights to any of those and, unfortunately, I don't think we'll being seeing them any time soon.

Well, I'll be watching

Well, I'll be watching Animal Planet and TLC. They can keep the Golf channel.

It looks like these are

It looks like these are currently on 1694, 1695, 1696.

greg what city do you live

greg what city do you live in?

The only one I will watch is

The only one I will watch is Animal PlanetHD. Too bad TW can't get FOX HD. Thank God I bought one of those HD antennas from Best Buy, it works like a charm for Packer games and was only $30.

The biggest thing that ticks me off is no Big Ten. Come one TW, we can't watch our college team in HD? Strike three Time Waner, I'm finally going to give DirectTV a call and see what they offer and compare it to my TW bill.

You will probably find that

You will probably find that DirectTV will come to pretty close the same price as TW by the time you add additional receivers for other TV's and such. The biggest benefit that I have been able to see is for a comparable price you get more channels in general as well as more HD channels.

I may be the only one who is

I may be the only one who is more excited about Golf/Vs than the other two.... although I am very happy to have all three.

Over the last several months I have been doing a lot of thinking about switching to U-Verse or one of the two Dish systems. My conclusion is to stick it out until the fall with TWC. It feels as though they are FINALLY moving in the right direction. Yes, they still fall short in HD compared to the others. Yes, they still do not have Big Ten, NFL, or Fox HD. But with deals getting done on other cable systems, the groundwork has been laid for each of these to appear on my television in the not too distant future. That is why I am giving them until the fall. By then (roughly 3 months) they may have added close to 10 more HD channels (9 in the past two months makes me think this is not a major stretch), and come to terms with Big Ten, NFL, and Fox. Heck, maybe they will even have a better on screen guide by then.

Just my two cents.

or Time Warner will get

or Time Warner will get sold. I swear I heard they are really hurting, or did I dream that?

Time Warner Cable was

Time Warner Cable was actually one of Time Warner's best-performing assets, I believe. They're being spun off as a separate entity.

Wow, there's really nothing

Wow, there's really nothing better than coming back from vacation and seeing 3 new available HD channels! Great job TWC with another great addition to our line up. I'm not even board with our last channels yet!

FREE HD--NOT SO MUCH. I

FREE HD--NOT SO MUCH. I have the "free-hd" lineup TWC braggs about. Well, out of the three, I get Animal Planet. Let me know if anyone disagrees or finds out otherwise.

I get all three channels

I get all three channels mentioned in the post. Have you tried resetting your HD box?

I had troubles last night

I had troubles last night getting TLC or Versus in HD. Both channels said I had to call to order them. I assume they'll be up by tonight otherwise I'll reset my box.

Seems like TLC and Versus is

Seems like TLC and Versus is still a no show on my box. I have tried resetting the box as well as contacting Time Warner and having them reset it as well and still no luck. They mentioned that they have been having problems with some of the set top boxes picking those channels so now I have someone coming out to check it out.

The customer service rep also said that more channels are coming next month but didn't know which ones.

USA HD 726 Bravo

USA HD 726
Bravo HD 749
SciFi HD 758
CNBC HD 757

I'll fourth the problems

I'll fourth the problems with TLC-HD and VS/GLF-HD. They've been a no-show since day one on my Explorer 8300HDC. I was hoping they'd show up and I could cancel the tech appt, but that's not looking to be the case.

If those are truly the 4 new

If those are truly the 4 new HD channels we are getting I will be happy to finally see USA and SciFi. Are there dates tied to when they will be coming and are there more planned for the following months or will that be it for a while?

Hmph...I was hoping for The

Hmph...I was hoping for The Travel Channel and The Weather Channel. Oh, well...

07/29/08 for the new hd

07/29/08 for the new hd channels

Is anyone still having

Is anyone still having problems with TLC and Golf channels? The tech support came out last night to try and fix it and couldn't. They swapped out boxes and everything...in the end I now don't get a majority of my other HD channels.

I'm still not seeing them on

I'm still not seeing them on my TWC HD DVR. I see them listed in the guide, but they still say I'm unauthorized to view them.

Still unauthorized here as

Still unauthorized here as well. I still need to call them and have them reset my box, it sounds like that may not work though.
