After replacing its roster of VOOM channels with 20 new HD channels back in June, DISH Network is at it again.  The satcaster is getting ready for an August 1st launch of 17 new HD channels.  According to its press release, DISH Network claims the addition will push its lineup past the 100 HD networks it promised to offer this year, with five months' time to spare.

Of course, that's 100 HD channels overall, including out-of-market sports channels, pay per view channels and the like, but if that number makes customers all warm and fuzzy, why not?  Right?

Unfortunately for most subscribers who don't subscribe to premium channels, they'll only be seeing four of the 17 new HD channels as the additions are mostly premium movie channels (noted in bold below).  The new channels coming to DISH Network's lineup include:

  • ActionMax HD
  • CBS College Sports HD
  • Lifetime HD
  • Lifetime Movie Network HD
  • Planet Green HD
  • Encore HD
  • HBO 2 HD
  • HBO Comedy HD
  • HBO Family HD
  • HBO Latino HD
  • HBO Signature HD
  • HBO West HD
  • HBO Zone HD
  • Starz Comedy HD
  • Starz Edge HD
  • Starz Kids & Family HD
  • Starz West HD

I'm not a Dish customer and

I'm not a Dish customer and doing a recent self survey of my property, I'm not sure I'd be able to get satellite service where I live without cutting down a tree or two...any way, any addition of HD channels is good but I doubt these will make the subscribers who were upset about the loss of the VOOM channels happy...from my understanding, the VOOM channels were mostly unique HD programming where as these are just HD versions of what they already offer in SD.

I am very upset. They so

I am very upset. They so called new channels are mostly crap and not everybody is going to see it. Many people have been asking for SPEEDTV in HD. Because Comcast and Directv already have that channel. So DISHNETWORK Get speedtv and leave the Lifetime Channel HD to somebody else. I cant wait until I am able to switch to Direct tv and am finally finish with this dish network crap. Sorry for the hard note everybody just dish network is not for the people and just for themselves

Dish Network if you are

Dish Network if you are listening bring SPEED TV HD. You have already suffered customer losses, its going to get worse. Adding some obscure HD channels doesn't mean you are the leader in HD. Give viewers what they what and they'll stick around not by fooling them by claiming over 100 HD channels!!
